Eaten
Although in a race enviroment you don't always think of the world of science fiction, this brought it to my mind in a heart beat. When I was sitting waiting for my friend to come down the mountain and finish his race I watched the mud pit obstacle for the people jumping into it with glee. I realized the people who were diving in first looked like they had been grabbed by something and dragged under. For some reason it jumped out at me, and I thought this guy looks like he was taken under not by his own will but by some creature. Although the flags do give it a sort of game enviroment, I think it also can alude to the idea of fould play.

A Light of Hope
Sitting in my Kitchen on a dreary looking evening, I looked out the window and saw the church across the street embodied in light in a evening that was slowly turning into darkness and night. Although its seems really strange, at the time the way it looked spoke to me. It reminded me of a scene in Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, where Sam and Frodo are in the middle of a battle that seems without all hope. And Frodo says to Sam "I can't do this." and Sam replies "I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something. That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo... and it's worth fighting for." At the time when I took the photo, I was in a mood where I needed a bit of hope from my despair. It made me feel as though there will always be hope, and light in a world full of darkenss and doubt. I hope you enjoy the scene and thought as much as I did.

Green Knight
Going to a Renaissance fair when your twenty feels like the first time you went when you were five. Seeing two men fight to the death for your own excitement and pleasure seems to always draw a huge crowd. Each man is trying gain the crowds approval. It is similar to the effect of having troops rally behind you, no matter your intentions, be they good or evil. The green knight of the day, although seemed crude and ruthless, raised our spirits and our hearts as he road past for glory and pride. I wanted to capture the feeling of a great commander rallying his troops for a battle. In that moment you wouldn't think that this man was a merciless killer ignoring rules and killing innocents, but a noble hero who wants nothing but to please his subjects and lead them into glory.
